By & By Productions presents the World Premiere of MOVING DAY, a drama written and directed by Helene Montagna. Performances begin previews on April 8th at The Kraine Theater with opening night slated for Monday, April 12. By & By Productions is a division of Sea View Playwright's Theatre in Staten Island where MOVING DAY was workshopped last year.

Set in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn, MOVING DAY centers around Max, a recovering heroin addict. As Max prepares to leave the childhood home he shares with his sister Emily, she tries to convince him that leaving won't eliminate his problems. Emily constantly struggles with letting go -- of her brother, of their parents' house, of a fantasy relationship with her friend Steven. More problems arise when Melinda, Max's alcoholic-in-denial ex-wife shows up sporting secrets of her own. Addiction. Infidelity. Divorce. When we move to a new home, can we leave behind our issues or do they inadvertently get packed with the china?

The production stars Tina Barone, Frank Nigro, Douglas Reid and Christie Zampella with lighting by Ken Conroy, set by Katherine Fry, sound by Sam Dante, and costumes by Sofia Dante.

Playwright Helene Montagna has been involved behind the scenes in theatre since her high school days. She has served in every backstage role from stage crew to stage manager to director. Helene recently completed a Master Class at the LAByrinth Theater, which included playwriting workshops with Stephen Adly Guirgis, Jose Rivera and Cusi Cram. She as also studied playwriting at Primary Stages with Dan O'Brien and David Caudle. Helene has also written Ghosts of Monte
Cristo, about playwright Eugene O'Neill, his brother Jamie and the ghost of Anna Christie. A reading of that play can be seen on eoneill.com. Additional produced works include Momentary Blindness
and The Intervention, both as part of Sundog Theatre's Scenes from the Staten Island Ferry.

MOVING DAY runs April 8 - May 1, Monday & Thursday - Saturday at 8pm, Sunday at 7pm. (Please note: no shows April 18 & 19). The Kraine Theater is located at 85 East 4th Street (between 2nd & 3rd Aves -- accessible from the F train at 2nd Ave). Tickets are $20, available at 212-352-3101 or www.TheaterMania.com.
