Chosen as part of A.R.T./New York's inaugural season, Broken Box Mime Theater presents SEE REVERSE, a crop of new, short plays devised by its resident ensemble of innovative art-makers, which begins previews on Friday, February 17th and opens on Tuesday, February 21st at the Jeffrey and Paula Gural Theatre at the A.R.T./New York Theatres (502 West 53rd Street and 10th Avenue).

Recently awarded Two New York Innovative Theatre Awards for Outstanding Performance Art and Choreography/Movement, the production is led by Artistic Director Becky Baumwoll. The 90-minute production, ranging from film noir to political protest and twisted fable to absurdist drama, plays a limited engagement through Sunday, March 5th, 2017.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door, and can be purchased by logging on to www.brokenboxmime.com.

SEE REVERSE is comprised of ten provocative, sophisticated yet accessible short plays strung together by a common theme and suspended disbelief. SEE REVERSE asks the audience to take their truth and turn it upside down, inside out, and back in time, revealing something truer than they held at the start. Paired with original music from up-and-coming talent, the evening's works explore everything from the lighthearted ("Plainview Players," a loving parody of community theater) to the somber ("Heartland," a portrait of a father-daughter relationship paralyzed by an abyss in communication). Without the use of props, sets, costumes, or words, stories are only told with body movements, making the work both dynamic and compelling.

BKBX has been redefining Mime since 2011, operating under the belief that theater requires little ornamentation, only great vision. Using the universal language of imagination, the ensemble's work appeals to a wide array of audiences, including ASL and non-English speakers, as well as enthusiasts of all types of performance art. BKBX adds timeless tradition to the innovation and authenticity of art in New York, with a dash of unplugged simplicity in the mix.

This collaborative performance group aims to jumpstart the imagination of audiences, reinvigorate the art of mime, and remind audiences of the power of simple storytelling.

The cast consists of members of the Broken Box Mime Theater's full company including: Becky Baumwoll, Géraldine Dulex, Matt Zambrano, David Jenkins, Blake Habermann, Duane Cooper, Nick Abeel, and Marissa Molnar. Additional company members include Dinah Berkeley, Eliza Simpson, Joshua Wynter, Joel Perez, and Tasha Milkman. The artistic director for the company is Becky Baumwoll, with lighting design by Jamie Roderick.

Playing schedule for SEE REVERSE is as follows: Thursdays - Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 3pm. The opening night performance is Tuesday, February 21st at 8pm, with an additional performance on Monday, February 27th at 8pm. The limited engagement plays through March 5th.
