The UK's Celebrated Bristol Old Vic Theatre School is one of the world's leading Acting conservatories. In an extra-ordinary partnership,The Queens Players and Bristol Old Vic are holding a 2-day Shakespeare Workshop.
This two day course is aimed at professional actors as well as actors in training who wish to hone their approach to Shakespeare and discover how a practical mastery of classical text can enhance their whole approach to acting.
The course is led by Head of Acting Courses, John Hartoch and Head of Voice, Carol Fairlamb. As Head of Acting Courses at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, John has been one of the leading figures in British actor training for many years. Carol has worked extensively in British drama schools and was formerly Resident Voice Coach at the Sydney Theatre Company where she worked alongside Cate Blanchett and Philip Seymour Hoffman, among many others.
John Hartoch, will help students explore monologues and key scenes to increase understanding and confidence when dealing with Shakespeare's work. Carol Fairlamb will lead students through exercises for releasing the body, deepening the breath and exploring the dynamics of voice and the connection between body, breath, voice and Shakespeare's language. Time will be spent unraveling the detail of Shakespeare's language: rhythms, line structure, cadence, word weight and investigating imaginative, instinctive responses to the text as well as the more cognitive and intellectual.
This workshop provides an invaluable experience to receive the best acting training the UK has to offer without leaving Queens.
The workshop begins today, Saturday, August 10th and continues tomorrow, Sunday, August 11th from 10am-5pm at The Secret Theatre. Book your place in the workshop at www.secrettheatre.com or by phone at (718)392-0722.
