Saving a Drowning Man is the story of a struggling film director (Perry, played by Tom Bartos) who is turning his back on an industry that for a decade has proven generous with promises but stingy with genuine success. Instead Perry now hopes to find fulfillment supporting his fiancé (Emma, played by Lyndsay Becker) by taking up the reigns of his family's business and stepping into his deceased father's role as director of a funeral home. Concerned with the suddenness of his transition Emma opens their new house to Perry's rowdy college friends-an eclectic group now embedded in a range of thirty something lifestyles-for a weekend of fraternity drinking games, rekindled romance, personal crisis and reconnection with the simpler values of younger years.

Mr. Brooks new play superimposes the idealistic priorities of youth with the practical requirements demanded by adult life. Placing these value systems side by side Saving a Drowning Man provides the opportunity to explore the cause and consequence of transitioning (or failing to transition) from one structure to the next. Saving a Drowning Man features an ensemble cast and characters that are bound to each other in a unique social tapestry. It showcases strong female roles and speaks to anyone who has ever tried to balance realizing their dreams with day to day survival.
