Cheryl King, director of Stage Left Studio, NYC, and longtime LGBTQ advocate, announces an addition to the cast of Gender -- a Performance Project. Rain Dove, activist and super model, will present a new monologue, as part of this evening of Gender exploration.

The performance on June 29 at the intimate Stage Left Studio will feature work written by Ms. King and Ashley Lauren Rogers- trans woman, playwright and actor. This 75-minute evening of sketches, monologues and videos explores how our ideas about gender affect our lives.

A gentle tongue-in-cheek attitude prevails throughout, in comedic bits about coming out, PGP's (preferred gender pronouns), workplace and facility discrimination, identity, and the misconceptions regarding life as a transgender/gender non-binary individual. Transitions in between the sketches include conceptual art about gender fluidity and performance.

The 10-person cast is diverse - including actors of multiple ethnicities, ages and identities throughout the gender spectrum. The cast includes Ericka Hart, Cheryl King, Miyuki Kumamoto, Katie Lawson, Keith Mackler, Pooya Mohseni, Michael Roche, Ashley Lauren Rogers, Liseetanne Scherchel, and KC Weakley. Ericka Hart, adult sex- ed educator, is a contributor and will provide a "pronoun workshop" after the intermission. A post-show wine and chocolate reception is included. Running time: 75 minutes.

Gender, A Performance Project, is made possible in part with public funds from the Manhattan Community Arts Fund, supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and administered by Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.
