Through monologues, music, poetry and dance, playwright Lisa McCree takes a 30-year snapshot of the lives of 11 women from the inner city in her provocative comedy about self-acceptance in a world of rejection, "And My Name Ain't Peaches," playing September 25 - October 5 at Access Theater. The piece earned a Human Rights Award for The Theatre Outlet, Allentown, PA, where it was originally produced in 2005.
Through monologues, music, poetry and dance, "And My Name Ain't Peaches" assails taboo themes in a bold, unflinching portrait that captures the pain and strength of women living in urban America with lyricism, honesty and wit.
McCree summarizes her work as "a candid peek into the thoughts and hopes of every woman, reflecting the anger and confusion that we can all relate to if only we open our minds and put our judgments aside."
