Evening of Three One-Act Plays is directed by Art Bernal and produced by Artistic Director James Jennings and American Theatre of Actors. The one-act plays written by award-winning playwright Phil Paradis include WHISTLE STOP ROMANCE, RACQUETBALL, and SUNNY SIDE. Actors featured are: WHISTLE STOP ROMANCE: Elena Crociani, Justin Younts; SUNNY SIDE: Patricia Hart, Joseph Leone; RACQUETBALL: Chris Ostrowski and Dan Wuerdeman. Stage manager is Jessica Newman.
WHISTLE STOP ROMANCE is the story of a young schoolteacher who returns home only to confront her former fiancé. RACQUETBALL is a drama about an assistant professor who finds himself negotiating for tenure on a racquetball court. SUNNY SIDE is a comedy about two elderly strangers who meet and become acquainted in an urban city park.
There will be five performances, Wednesday-Saturday February 14-17 at 8 pm, and Sunday matinee February 18 at 3 pm. Tickets are $15 at door. Reservations may be made by calling 212- 581-3044. One half hour prior to curtain doors will open.
Playwright Phil Paradis' critically acclaimed Soldiers' Christmas was staged on the 100th anniversary of the 1914 Christmas Truce at Northern Kentucky University. His play about Teddy Roosevelt and Stephen Crane set in 1890s New York was a Semi-Finalist for the Kentucky Theatre Association's 2014 New Play Award. His plays have been produced in New York, LA, San Diego, Louisville, Cincinnati, Spokane and Newport, Kentucky and Newport, Rhode Island.
