Hour by Hour: Susan Glaspell, is a staged reading event that will span 12 hours and celebrate the works of one of the most influential and overlooked figures of the modern American Theater, Susan Glaspell. In addition to the presentation of 10 of Ms. Glaspell's plays, audiences are also invited to attend discussions featuring preeminent scholars and speakers from the International Susan Glaspell Society.

In its continued mission to explore works by highly regarded playwrights, American Bard Theater Company is presenting Hour by Hour: Susan Glaspell as a fundraising event that will also incorporate a silent auction offering items from Helicopter Rides to Hamptons Getaways.

The event will take place tonight, September 12th at The June Havoc Theatre in New York City. Playing times vary from 30-90 minutes and take place from 10am until 10pm.

Hour by Hour: Susan Glaspell celebrates the incredible canon of journalist, feminist, novelist, and playwright Susan Glaspell. 100 years ago Ms. Glaspell and her husband George Cram Cook formed the Provincetown Players, a fledgling troupe that would create and present works reflecting contemporary American topics. Provincetown Players went on to eventually move to Greenwich Village and foster the groundbreaking works of Ms. Glaspell, Eugene O'Neill, Edna St. Vincent Millay and many others. Most often recognized is Glaspell's 'Trifles' which is a marriage of her work as a criminal journalist and playwright, focused around a true crime story in a small town. Other notable accolades include her Pulitzer Prize received for 'Alison's House', based on the life of Emily Dickinson.

This event is not only a preservation of text, but also of presentation. Artistic Director Michael Heitzler explains "As an Off-Off Broadway company, we can not expect to know where we're going, until we acknowledge where we've been. Before many others, Susan Glaspell's works and wisdom paved our way. We're thrilled to share that message with our audiences with the cooperation of our colleagues in the community." Hour by Hour : Susan Glaspell revisits the communal nature of Provincetown Players by presenting an event featuring various directors, actors, and speakers from New York City in an intimate space.

American Bard Theater Company staff includes : Michael Heitzler (Artistic Director), Cheri Wicks (Managing Director), Mickey Pantano (Development Director), Jack Herholdt (Dramaturg/Marketing Director), Michele Butler (Company Member).
