Amas Musical Theatre's Rosetta LeNoire Musical Theatre Academy (Donna Trinkoff, Producing Artistic Director; Rosetta LeNoire, Founder) will present the Tony Award-Winning musical Street Dreams: The Inner City Musical, by Eve Merriam, with a score by Helen Miller. Street Dreams: The Inner City Musical will open on Friday, May 9 and run through the 18th at the American Theatre of Actors (314 West 54th St.)

Street Dreams: The Inner City Musical follows life on a block in an un-named American city. It was the brain child of Tom O'Horgan, known for his shows Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Lenny. "We're thrilled to be reviving this wonderful show after so many years", says Amas Producing Artistic Director Donna Trinkoff. "It remains hauntingly relevant and poignant as a portrayal of the city's urban landscape". In 1972 Linda Hopkins received a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her work in the show Inner City. The title was changed to Street Dreams for its revival at La Mama in 1982.

The Creative Team: Direction by Christopher Scott (Golf: The Musical!, Nancy Friday's My Secret Garden, The Broadway Kids) Musical Direction by Marshall Keating (Smoking Bloomberg, CAP 21 Monday Night reading Series) Choreographer Monica Celeste Johnson (The Broadway Kids), Costumes by Cheryl McCarron (Tails, Dog Music) Benjamin Hagen (Nancy Friday's My Secret Garden, Tails) and Sets by Andrew Farrugia.

Amas Musical Theatre's The Rosetta LeNoire Musical Theatre Academy began in the early nineteen seventies as the Eubie Blake Youth Theatre and is now a pre-professional performing arts training program, open to students age 14-20, throughout the New York City area. Classes in singing, dancing and acting, taught by working theatre professionals, culminate in a fully-staged Off-Off-Broadway production of a major musical. Recent seasons have included critically-acclaimed productions of Footloose, The Me Nobody Knows and On The Town. Many Academy alumni go on to performing careers on Broadway and in theatres across America, and in film and television.
