Amas Musical Theatre Launches 45th Season with NOTES TO MARIANNE Today

Amas Musical Theatre has announced the first two shows of its 45th Season! The Amas Lab series begins in September with two new musicals: notes to MariAnne and Cookin'! Both shows take place during America's heady post-World War II years, but couldn't be more different.

Written and composed by David Rossmer and Dan Lipton, notes to MariAnne is sure to captivate you with its eclectic, Americana score. Amas worked with Rossmer last year on the Drama Desk and Lortel-nominated hit, The Other Josh Cohen. notes to MariAnne is directed by Broadway favorite Leigh Silverman featuring a terrific cast. Seating is VERY limited for these two performances and we are already close to being sold out!

The second Amas Lab reading Cookin'! is written and composed by Debra Barsha (Radiant Baby) and Hollye Leven. With a musical score steeped in the early years of rock-and-roll, Cookin'!will have you dancin' in the aisles. Directed by Amas veteran, Lynne Taylor-Corbett.

notes to MariAnne is about finding the courage to overcome the past and change your life. A brother and sister are torn apart, then reunited a decade later under extraordinary circumstances, as new hope is found in the most unexpected of places.

With an eclectic, Americana score that embraces vaudeville, country, folk and rock, this original musical draws audiences into an unfolding family mystery.

It's the 1950's. The beginning of rock 'n' roll. Ronald Reagan is a model for Lifebuoy Soap. Rock Hudson is on the cover of LIFE magazine as "The World's Most Eligible Bachelor." Smack dab in the middle of America, in Winnetka, Illinois, four women enter a Betty Crocker cooking contest in the hopes of changing their lives. What they get is way more than they bargained for.
