Amas Musical Theatre and The Amas Song Salon will offer a special event kicking off the company's 51st Anniversary Season. "The Art of The One Person Show" with actress/singer Susan Campanaro and composer Lynn Portas will be held on Monday, September 9, 2019 in a spectacular, sky-high location on West 57th Street. The evening will begin at 6pm with cocktails and supper, followed by the presentation at 7:30pm. Tickets are $125 and may be purchased online at www.amasmusical.org or by calling 212-563-2565. Meet Susan Campanaro, long time sensation in the New York City nightlife scene. An accomplished actress and singer, Susan has created the larger than life persona of "Lavinia Draper." Missing Person, the musical based on Lavinia's life, with a book by Campanaro, original songs by Lynn Portas, and direction by Christopher Scott, is the boozy story of a fallen socialite and one-time understudy to Broadway star Betty Buckley. We watch the eternally optimistic Lavinia stumble and get up again as she chases her dream of becoming an entertainer.
The Amas Song Salon series, from New York's award-winning Amas Musical Theatre, is designed to present up-close and personal soirees celebrating the Broadway songbook and some of its brightest talents in a relaxed environment. Intimate, entertaining and informative.
Susan Campanaro is a New York City based actor, writer, entertainer and director. Most recently she was Sophia in The Golden Girls Musical Parody: World Pride Edition. Her one woman musical: Missing Person is an original play that features the New York City Nightlife character Lavinia Draper. Lavinia, a boozy ex-Broadway understudy from Cats, was an original creation from the mind of Susan. For the past 20 years she has performed weekly as a headline entertainer in the Gay Nightlife in New York City, Cherry Grove, Fire Island and Wilton Manors, Florida. Her other off-Broadway credits include: Tony n' Tina's Wedding, Cowboy Mouth, Aunt Chooch's Birthday Party, My Big Gay Italian Wedding /Funeral and Wild Mushrooms. She also starred in and directed the Off Broadway show, All Dolled Up. Susan stars in and directed a short film, The No Matter What Club that will be premiered during the Reel Recovery Film Festival this year in Los Angeles and New York City.
