BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center, the longest operating performance venue in lower Manhattan, proudly presents the next event in the 2017-2018 Family Series Season: Are You My Mother? on Sunday, April 8 at 1:30PM. Are You My Mother? is part of BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center's 2017-2018 Family Theater Season, featuring plays, musicals, puppetry, concerts and dance for all ages.
ArtsPower presents an enchanting musical about Baby Bird's adventure, a journey that overflows with courage, determination, and a bit of calculated silliness. At long last, Baby Bird emerges from her shell and expects to be greeted by her mother's song. But her mother is not there. Where is she? Why isn't she home? With the help of Dog, Cat, and Hen, Baby Bird sets out in search of Mother Bird in this colorful musical adventure based on P.D. Eastman's whimsical and well-loved picture book. Are You My Mother? features a rich, upbeat musical score and imaginative sets. Greg Gunning, ArtsPower's Artistic Director, adapted and directed the show and wrote the lyrics. Richard DeRosa wrote and orchestrated the musical score. Recommended for ages 4 to 7.
"At ArtsPower, we are committed to improving children's lives through the performing arts," said executive producer Gary Blackman. "By introducing our young audiences to enthusiastic characters like Baby Bird, and to the concept of 'family,' children can see new possibilities in life and in themselves."
