The off-beat comedy ALL MY CHILDREN, written and performed by Matt Smith and directed by Bret Fetzer returns to NYC for four performances only as part of the FringeNYC Encore Series. ALL MY CHILDREN begins performances tonight, September 12 for a limited engagement through Monday, September 17. The performance schedule is below.

What happens when a man's biological clock starts ticking? Max Poth takes ‘what-might-have-been’ to extreme lengths: he tracks down the now-grown children of long-ago girlfriends and tells them he's their real father (knowing that he’s not). Journeying through iconic Seattle locations like The Hurricane, The Bins and Scary Teriyaki, what starts as a strange lark soon grows into a hilarious, if not downright bizarre, look at the making of a modern American family.

This “enjoyable yarn” (Time Out NY) began as a 20-minute piece at Seattle’s renowned writer’s sanctuary Hugo House, as part of their monthly Hugo Literary Series. Hugo House commissioned Matt Smith to write the complete show, which premiered there in 2010. Called “smart and funny and self-deprecating enough to make this amoral cad almost lovable (and shockingly entertaining)” by The Stranger, ALL MY CHILDREN subsequently toured to The Marsh in Berkeley and the Ottawa Fringe in 2011.

Popular Seattle-based solo writer/performer Matt Smith (“Yarns spin effortlessly off his tongue, somewhat in the Garrison Keillor mode,” SF Theater Blog) is a fundraising auctioneer, a Partner on Cookusinterruptus.com, a Communication Consultant, and an ambassador for Hanford Challenge, dedicated to cleaning-up nuclear waste. Solo works: All My Children, My Last Year with the Nuns, Helium, Beyond Kindness, My Boat to Bainbridge. Screen: The Immaculate Conception of Little Dizzle, Outsourced, White Face, Sleepless in Seattle, Almost Live. Theatre: Co-founder: Stark/Raving Theatre and Seattle Improv. Artistic director of Seattle TheatreSports. He was last seen in NYC in 2000 at HERE with My Last Year with the Nuns.

Bret Fetzer (director) has directed all of Matt Smith's solo shows. He is also a playwright, a former theater editor for the alternative weekly The Stranger, a former artistic director of Annex Theatre in Seattle, and he co-wrote the documentary Le Petomane: Fin de Siecle Fartiste.
