Parents' Choice® Gold Award-winning musician Joanie Leeds is so excited about her new CD What a Zoo! that she's stocked up on an array of special "tattoos" for kids who come to her rocking What a Zoo! family show at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 15, at 92Y Tribeca, 200 Hudson Street, NYC. This performance is part of 92YTribeca's B.Y.O.K.TM (Bring Your Own Kid) series.

Says Joanie, "Our shows always incorporate tons of interactive dancing and singing along. Because the May 15th 92YTribeca show will showcase songs from our new CD, we thought it would be fun for kids to have a chance to be 'tattooed at the zoo.' After the show I'll pass out tattoos to all the amazing freeze-dancers from our "Freeze Dance" song!"

Joanie's 92YTribeca will be a high energy, interactive experience from start to finish, and it's sure to include such "Joanie favorites" as "I'm a Rock Star," "Blast Off," and "More Cowbell," along with an array of songs from What a Zoo! including "My Butterfly," "Wimoweh," "Mosquitoes," "Happy As A Clam," and "Possum." At the start of "I Wanna Be Green" Joanie and the band will bring out the green pom poms, as they lead kids in the GREEN CHEER. In "Popcorn" (a swing tempo rock tune in a Bill Haley mode), kids will pop like corn kernels as they sing along. In the song "Pretend," kids will act out the lyrics, pretending to be movie stars, superheroes, and dinosaurs. And, of course, kids will be moving like crazy during Joanie's "Freeze Dance" song, as she gives away tattoos to all the awesome dancers.

Gifted with a soulful, "rock solid" voice and an instinctive knack for capturing the essence of any style she goes for, Joanie Leeds has delivered, with each new release, music that speaks to kids in a friendly, non-patronizing way and is imbued with artistic values that thrill admiring adults. Her presentation is notable for its child-appropriate clarity, yet vocally Joanie soars easily through a remarkable array of styles with such an enviable power and dexterity that it's easy to forget her intended audience is under age 10. Joanie truly rocks! Time Out New York Kids enthused about I'm a Rock Star, "The title track - with its hint of mid-career Alanis Morissette - is a terrific jam, while the rocking-chair anthem 'Give Me a Hug' is a tender, parent-pleasing tune ... if she can win over my discerning kid, then Joanie Leeds is indeed a rock star."
