On the 8th Annual soloNOVA Festival, dancer/actress CHARLOTTE BYDWELL will premiere her autobiographical "Woman of Leisure and Panic," for 5 performances May 11-19 at P.S. 122, 150 First Avenue. In this whimsical combination of dance and theater, Bydwell depicts a young woman's quest to find balance in a life where achievements sometimes seem to bring further uncertainty. She struggles to remain financially stable, creatively productive, physically fit, romantically satisfied, and still standing....or should she sit?? Charlotte has set the 45-minute solo to background music of Jay Z, the theme from Gone With the Wind, and her own thoughts both live and on tape.

Charlotte Bydwell is currently a member of Monica Bill Barnes company and recently appeared in a leading role in Larry Keigwin's "Runaway." "Woman of Leisure and Panic," her first solo show, grew out of a 3-minute solo which she created for her 2009 graduation from Juilliard. Following graduation, the intropective dancer/actress found herself overwhelmed with the prospect of taking control of her life and returned to her native Montreal to ponder her future, her possibilities, and how to achieve balance in her life. After several months, Charlotte returned to New York and held a series of jobs, from hostessing at the River Cafe to acting as a tour guide at Lincoln Center. She subsequently joined the company of Monica Bill Barnes, performed with Larry Keigwin, and began acting classes with Anthony Abeson.
