59E59 Theaters (Elysabeth Kleinhans, Artistic Director; Peter Tear, Executive Producer) today announced the roster of shows for the Spring 2012 Season.  

All performances take place at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues).  Ticket prices and performance schedules vary. For tickets, which go on sale Monday, April 2, call Ticket Central at 212-279-4200 or online at www.59e59.org.

Thursday, April 26 – Sunday, May 20
EVOLUTION, written and performed by Patricia Buckley, directed by Michele Chivu
Produced by Absolute Uncertainty in association with InterArt Theatre and The Redhouse Arts Center

Scientific fact and family history collide in this contemporary tale of a woman’s extraordinary transformation and her family’s absurd and tragic attempts to prevent it.

TRAVELERS is an original double bill of two one-act operas by Gustav Holst. The first opera, The Wandering Scholar, is a comedy. The second opera, S?vitri, is a moving tale of pure love and devotion.

The Writopia Lab Worldwide Plays Festival brings 40 imaginative, hilarious, insightful, action-packed, poignant, and provocative short plays by award-winning young playwrights (ages 8 - 18).  Acted by professional actors, and directed by Obie winners, Emmy nominees, and critically acclaimed directors from the Broadway, Off-Broadway, and film worlds, these plays show that while the writers might be young, their plays can be timeless. Writopia Lab's Worldwide Plays Festival is supported in part by the Elysabeth Kleinhans Theatrical Foundation.
