"50 Shades of F****d Up," a new unauthorized musical parody of the international best-selling behemoth "50 Shades of Grey," shutters after playing four weeks on Saturday. Written, directed and choreographed by Tricia Brouk, with original songs by Andrew David Sotomayor, "50 Shades of F****d Up" was heralded as the only unauthorized musical parody of 50 Shades north of Times Square. It began its run at Sophie's at Broadway, 318 West 53rd Street, on Monday May 12. The show's Off-Off-Broadway opening was on Monday May 19.
The production puts out two more times... Saturday June 7 at 7pm and 10pm.
The "enjoyable" cast of four includes Jenna Dallacco as virginal Anastasia, Ben McHugh as Grey, the dominant male, and -- in multiple roles -- Krista DeMille and Cedric Leiba, Jr., who is most penetrating as everyone's Inner Goddess.
A parody of a parody, this 50 Shades has dark fun bringing out the humor of this self-serious pop literary phenomenon by E.L. James. The songs by the MAC Award-winning Sotomayor are "at times... smarter than average," according to TM's David Gordon, who adds, "sight gags, such as wild, exploding pubic hair, earn belly laughs.
