3rd Annual STEM Fest Kicks Off Today at UNDER St. Marks

Storytellers, comedians, playwrights, musicians, and, yes, even scientists will show us just how entertaining the world of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics can be. It might not have clicked in 9th grade, but now there are drinks and you're no longer stuck in puberty.

The 3rd Annual STEM Fest will run today, January 4, through January 21 with performances at UNDER St. Marks (94 St. Marks Place between 1st Avenue and Avenue A). Tickets to all shows ($10-$40) are available online at www.horseTRADE.info.


Ten-Foot Rat Cabaret: STEM Fest Edition

Wednesday, January 4 @ 9:30pm $15

Turnabout is Fair Play! But this time, the RAT does the experimenting! The cabaret that brought you such luminaries as Anthony Atamanuik (30 Rock, Trump Dump on Howard Stern; Atlantic Monthly), Reformed Whores (opening act for Alice Cooper, Weird Al Yankovic), Taradise (2014 Burlesque Idol Award winner) and Dwayne Hill (Mean Girls) will PROVE our theorems on as part of this years STEM Fest. In Rodential Defiance of the Winter Cold, we will be demonstrating Brownian Motion with some Hot Tea.

Einstein!

Jack Fry's new solo show Einstein! explores Albert Einstein's earlier years in Berlin as he struggles to prove this theory of relativity and prove his relativity as a father. Based on new information recently released, this play highlights the trials we all face as individuals in a world that at times doesn't want us to succeed.

Long Story Long

Thursday, January 12 @ 7pm $10

Long Story Long is a storytelling show created to let the audience get to know the performers a little better. Most stories onstage are just a sliver of a person. Long Story Long offers longform stories. With 30 minutes to share, performers take us to along with them on their journeys.

Conservation Theater: Rated T for Taboo

A night of anything goes Conservation Theater. This years topic Climate Change! Yes, its happening and we are gonna talk about it. Sometimes science can seem stuffy, not tonight. Enjoy a collection of sketches, stand up, music and surprises from some of New York's top performers including Michael Birch, Bricken Sparacino and more. Wildlife and conservation science takes off its tie and lets its hair down.

The Story Collider

This bio-epic with puppets follows him back and forth through time. When did Albert the man get lost in history to Einstein the icon?

Astronomy on Tap

Astronomy on Tap brings lectures on the latest in space and planets and galaxies the way you want to hear them - at your favorite bar with a beer in your hand! Professional astronomers present engaging talks about their own research or recent discoveries in astronomy in a casual, fun atmosphere, often featuring games, trivia contests, and prizes. Audience participation and interaction is an important part of Astronomy on Tap - bring your curiosity and questions (and maybe we'll bring Neil deGrasse Tyson's trash to win!).

FRIGID New York @ Horse Trade is a theater development group with a focus on new work that produces a massive quantity of stimulating downtown theater every season. FRIGID's Resident Artist Program offers a home to a select group of Independent theater artists, pooling together a great deal of talent and energy. FRIGID New York grew out of the annual FRIGID Festival, the first and only festival of its kind in New York City to offer artists 100% of their box office proceeds, and Horse Trade Theater Group, a self-sustaining theater development and management group.
