The play's the only thing when WorkShop Theater Company presents The WILL-A-THON 10th Anniversary Bard-Stravaganza! featuring Tony Award Winner, Mr. Richard Easton with three different shows performed on six nights, written by William Shakespeare, and conceived and directed by Charles E. Gerber. A Special Event in the Main Stage Theater at WorkShop Theater Company, 312 West 36 Street on the 4th floor, Monday thru Saturday, April 22 thru April 27, 2013, at 8:00 PM each night, the WILL-A-THON features The Acting Company of Will's Playshop, intoxicating love songs, poetry, scenes both dramatic and comedic, and culminates in "A Shakespearean Evening with Richard Easton" in the final performance, Saturday, April 27th.
A consummate Broadway veteran, Easton (Tony Award The Invention of Love) and starring roles in Broadway productions of Henry IV and Elling, first became aware of Gerber through his sold-out productions of Macbeth, Tartuffe, and Don Juan in Hell. Impressed with his work, Eastonjoined Gerber at the WNYC Shakespeare Festival and a reading of Caesar and Cleopatra, before his participation in Will's Playshop that now brings him to share the OOB stage with fellow Bardophiles for three nights. Why? Ask Easton and he'll tell you, "All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players."
Known as "some of the best spoken Shakespeare in NYC" (Bloomberg Radio) the first WILL-A-THON began in 2003 under Charles E. Gerber, a Founding Member of WorkShop Theater Company, who created Will's Playshop along with his late wife, Carol Bennett Gerber, as a haven for professional actors who yearned to live and breathe the Bard.
The production features The Acting Company from Will's Playshop, including Letty Ferrer*, Dee Dee Friedman*, Charles E. Gerber*, Julie Grega, Timothy Scott Harris, Cordis Heard*, Carol Henning, Rebecca J. Johnson*, David M. Mead*, Lidia Ornero, Rebecca Smithee, Kevin Stanfa*, Jonathan Weber, and Special Guest on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, Mr. Richard Easton*. *Appearing courtesy of Actors' Equity Association. AEA approved showcase.
