The York Theatre Company, and its acclaimed Developmental Reading Series, will present the new play Storm written and directed by P.J. Barry, and the new musical, God's Country with Book & Lyrics by Erik Johnke, and Music by Elaine Chelton at The York Theatre Company's home at Saint Peter's (Entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).
The Developmental Reading Series presents some 40 readings and workshops of new musicals by emerging and established authors throughout the year. a vital part of the writing process. The series serves as an incubator for shows to be considered for Mainstage productions, thus serving the York's unique mission of taking new musicals through the complete development process to full production.

It's 1871.Wealthy Englishman James Watson's world is shattered by his mother's death and the revelation that he is adopted and Irish. Discovering his birth mother lives in America, he travels there on an epic journey to find his true identity. Sweeping melodies with Irish flavor carry this dynamic tale. God's Country was performed at the New York Musical Theatre Festival in July 2013.
The York Theatre Company concludes the 2013-2014 season with the world premiere of the new musical , Inventing Mary Martin, conceived, written and directed by Stephen Cole, with music supervision and arrangements by David Krane, music direction by Lawrence Goldberg, co-directed and choreographed by Bob Richard, and original music and lyrics by legendary composers Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein, Vernon Duke & Howard Dietz, Kurt Weill & Ogden Nash, No?l Coward, Irving Berlin, Jule Styne & Carolyn Leigh, Howard Dietz & Arthur Schwartz, and Tom Jones & Harvey Schmidt, among others. The four-member cast will feature Cameron Adams, Lynne Halliday, Jason Graae and Emily Skinner. Performances are set to begin Tuesday, April 15 for a limited engagement through Sunday, May 18 at York Theatre Company's home at Saint Peter's.
