York Theatre Company has announced a developmental lab presentation of the new musical, In Love with Jobim, with Concept & Book by Ernest Chambers, and Music by Antonio Carlos Jobim, Directed by Pamela Hunt (The Musical of Musicals!), and with Music Direction by Lawrence Yurman (Grey Gardens). The four-member cast includes Ashley Perez Flanagan (Prometheus Bound at A.R.T.), Curt Hansen (Hairspray), Ken Land (Promises, Promises) and Jeff McCarthy (Urinetown).
Performances of the concert staging are free to the public are scheduled for Wednesday, May 16th at 3:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, May 17th at 3:00 p.m. at The York Theatre at Saint Peter’s (Citicorp Building, entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).

In Love with Jobim is a one-act romantic comedy set in Rio, featuring some of the greatest love songs of our time. Antonio Carlos Jobim’s beloved music sets the score for this love-triangle full of humor and heart. The show includes some of Jobim’s most treasured melodies, such as the timeless hits “The Girl from Ipanema,” “Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars,” "In My Loneliness", "How Insensitive," "Wave," “Once I Loved” and “One Note Samba.”
York Theatre Company recently announced the first New York City revival of the classic Off-Broadway hit Closer Than Ever with Lyrics by Richard Maltby, Jr. and Music by David Shire. Performances begin Tuesday, June 5, 2012 for a limited run through July 14, 2012 at The York Theatre at Saint Peter’s (Citicorp Building, entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).
Under the direction of Mr. Maltby, and with music direction by Andrew Gerle, the cast will feature Broadway veterans Jenn Colella (Urban Cowboy, High Fidelity), George Dvorsky (The Scarlet Pimpernel), 2011 Tony nominee Christiane Noll (Ragtime, Jekyll & Hyde) and Sal Viviano (The Full Monty).
