York Shakespeare Co Announces Their REP 2010

 

THE YORK SHAKESPEARE COMPANY is pleased to announce their Rep 2010, celebrating the company?s 6th Season. YSC will be presenting MACBETH and RICHARD II by William Shakespeare in rotating repertory. Working in the classical Actor-Manager system, Seth Duerr directs and performs both pieces.

Rep 2010 will play a three-week engagement at The Clurman Theater at Theatre Row (410 W 42nd St). Performances begin Saturday, October 30th and continue through Saturday, November 13th. Tickets are $18 and are now available online at www.telecharge.com or by calling 212-239-6200. Tickets may also be purchased in-person at the Theatre Row Box Office, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. daily. TDF vouchers accepted.

Two masterpieces in rotating rep: In MACBETH an ambitious general undergoes a radical shift in power after killing for a crown; his paranoia and blood thirst leave no one safe, leading to his eventual madness and nihilistic defeat. RICHARD II is given the crown at ten years old and has spent the last twenty-two years exploiting his kingdom's treasury and his subjects' patience. Believing that Divine Right will make him invincible, he finds himself to be the most vulnerable of all.

The production features scenic design/properties by Elyse Handelman, lighting design by Bradley King, costume design by Kevin Thacker and composition/sound design by John D. Ivy. Stanley L. Ralph III is the production stage manager.
