One Year Lease Theater Company presents the World Premiere of Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally by Brooklyn-based playwright Kevin Armento (Good Men Wanted - 2015 O'Neill National Playwriting Finalist/PlayPenn Finalist, 2015-2016 Ars Nova Artist-in-Residence, Companion Piece at Pleasance Theatre, London)for a limited Off-Broadway run from September 30 to October 24 at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, NYC). Kevin Armento's Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally explores an escalating affair between a high school math teacher and her student, from the surprising perspective of the student's cell phone. A breakneck journey from pockets to purses, Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally offers an intimate view as small choices pile up into indiscretion, and the student's closest companion struggles to understand the complex human equation that emerges.
One Year Lease Theater Company's production will be directed by Ianthe Demos (pool (no water)) and feature Movement Direction by Natalie Lomonte (recently commissioned by Parsons Dance Company for their 2015 Joyce Season, also pool (no water)).
Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally was commissioned and developed by the ensemble of One Year Lease Theater Company (Ianthe Demos, Artistic Director; Nick Flint, Associate Artistic Director) and presented at 59E59 Theaters (Elysabeth Kleinhans, Artistic Director, Peter Tear, Executive Producer).
Cast includes Danny Bernardy (Shear Madness, Cougar! The Musical), Sarah-Jane Casey (What We Know, Skin Tight), Nick Flint (pool (no water), What We Know), Christina Bennett Lind (House of Cards, The Heart of Robin Hood, pool (no water)) and Ethan Slater (Lightening Bugs in a Jar premiering at Cannes Film Festival, What We Know). The production features an original score composed and performed live by Estelle Bajou (Once - First National Tour, pool (no water)), set design by James Hunting, associate set and props design by Olivia McGiff, lighting design by Mike Riggs and costume design by Kenisha Kelly.
Kevin Armento is a Brooklyn-based writer originally from San Diego. His plays include Good Men Wanted (Ars Nova's ANT Fest, upcoming at Arena Stage), a way to reach me (Cape Cod Theatre Project), killers (Tom Noonan's Paradise Factory), and Companion Piece (Pleasance Theatre, London). His work has also been performed with Naked Angels, Seattle Repertory Theatre, The New Ohio, INTAR, Rogue Machine Theatre, the claque, and Theatre503. He is a member of Ars Nova's Play Group, and is the recipient of commissions from the Abingdon Theatre and One Year Lease. Other work has been featured on Culturebot, Glamour, and The Huffington Post, and he is currently developing a series for CBS Studios.
