Rat King LLC, Adam Blanshay and Stephenie Overton in association with Brierpatch Productions have announced that TALES FROM THE TUNNEL, a new comedy about true NYC subway experiences co-written and co-directed by Troy Diana and James Valletti featuring Tony Award Winner Wilson Jermaine Heredia ("Angel" from RENT, Broadway and film) will begin previews off-Broadway at the 45 Bleecker Street Theatre on Saturday, July 10, 2010. In addition to Wilson Jermaine Heredia the cast of TALES FROM THE TUNNEL also includes Farah Bala, Geri Brown, Carla Corvo, BranDon Jones, Vayu O'Donnell, Sam Rosenberg, and Maria Silverman.
TALES FROM THE TUNNEL tracks the hilarious, outrageous and over the top true experiences that happen to all of us on the subway. From wackos and hook-ups to culture differences and that sly pinch, TALES FROM THE TUNNEL is a funny ride that tells quintessential New York stories. Experience the "did that just really happen?" situations that most New Yorkers Facebook about as soon as they get off the train - provided that they don't get stuck in the closing doors.
After critical acclaim at the 2009 New York International Fringe Festival, TALES FROM THE TUNNEL went on to be one of only 19 shows, among 200, to be selected for The FringeNYC Encore Series. Originally conceived in the 2006 Lincoln Center Directors' Lab and developed over three years by Diana and Valletti, the production is a series of pieces based on extensive research and hundreds of interviews with riders and subway workers who have something to say about their travels throughout the veins of NYC.

Set design is by Brad Zizmor, sound design is by Jess Bauer, lighting design is by Paul Miller with original music by Jason Diana.

James Valletti (Writer/Director) - has worked on Broadway (in various capacities): Fiddler on the Roof, Little Women, The Phantom of the Opera, Times They Are A-Changin.' Actors' Fund Broadway Productions of All About Eve (starring Angela Lansbury, Cynthia Nixon, Annette Bening, Joel Grey, and Zoe Caldwell), Hair, Chess, Valley of the Dolls, On the Twentieth Century, and A Wonderful Life. BC/EFA's Easter Bonnet Competitions (Co-Writer 2004's Avenue Jew; Writer/Director 2003's The Lion King piece). City Center Encores! Follies, Finian's Rainbow, Music in the Air, On the Town, The Wiz. Troy Diana (Writer/Director) - was a member of the 2006 Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab and was an SSDC Directing Observer under Chay Yew on The Long Wharf/The Public Theater Productions of Julia Cho's Durango. Troy's directing credits include Four Dogs and a Bone and Life and Limb. He has written and performed three solo shows including Storia for Monarch Theater Company (MITF and South Hill Park-England), Stressed, Depressed, and Repressed (Pulse Ensemble Theater) and Take This Job (The Zipper Theater). Troy currently teaches at Kean University in Union, New Jersey.

Adam Blanshay (Producer) - most recently produced Daniel Mitura's new stage adaptation of The Picture of Dorian Gray at Theatre Row. He also produced Daniel MacIvor's His Greatness at the 2009 New York International Fringe Festival and NYC Fringe Encore Series. Additional producing credits include Alexander Pushkin's Little Tragedies (Baryshnikov Arts Center), Scott Nevins' One Night Stand(New World Stages), Scott Nevins' RECE$IONI$TA & Celebutant (US National Tours), and Piazza After Dark (Centaur Theatre, Montreal). All Day Suckers at FringeNYC 2010, and Lucy Simon'sDoctor Zhivago, The Musical in Australia. His directing credits include off-Broadway: Piaf: Love Conquers All (SoHo Playhouse and National Tour), The Black Monk (Theatre Row/Beckett Theatre),The Second Tosca (45th Street Theatre), Clean (Urban Stages), A Woman Of Will (Daryl Roth Theatre). He is a graduate of McGill University.

Stephenie Overton (Producer) - just finished her fifth season at New York City Center as General Manager. In her tenure she managed fifteen Encores! productions, three Encores! Summer Stars (Patti LuPone in Gypsy, Jane Krakowski & Sean Hayes in Damn Yankees, and Ashanti in The Wiz), A Gala Evening with Kristin Chenoweth and more. Most recently she produced and managed the NYCC Stephen Sondheim 80th Birthday Gala, directed by John Doyle and starring over 20 of Broadway's greatest stars including Angela Lansbury, Donna Murphy, Raúl Esparza and Nathan Lane. Other NY credits include work at Roundabout Theatre Company, Richard Frankel Productions and Manhattan Theatre Club. Currently, Stephenie is the Managing Director and a member of Judith Clurman's Essential Voices USA, a collaborative performing ensemble, and is working on the upcoming recording and concert project Christmas With Kelli, starring Kelli O'Hara.

Brierpatch Productions (General Manager/Associate Producer) Started in 2008 as a partnership between Laura Janik Cronin and Scott Newsome. Current projects in addition to Tales From the Tunnel , include the musicals Enchanted April, Wallenberg, Get Got - A Rock Musical, The Frog Kiss, Tokio Confidential, Shine!, Bloodties and a Broadway revival of Elegies for Angels, Punks, and Raging Queens, as well as additional productions of Rest, In Pieces (Premiered summer 2009 starring Marcia Wallace). Previous productions include The Toymaker and Marrying Meg for New York Musical Festival 2009, the new musicals , and the 2008-2009 run of Glimpses of the Moon at the Algonquin's Oak Room.
