The White Horse Theater Company is set to present Sam Shepard's gripping, yet rarely seen play Eyes For Consuela from tonight, February 6-21 at the Gene Frankel Theatre (24 Bond Street). The four-person drama surrounding the nature of love, loss and separation in a dreamlike Mexican landscape will be directed by White Horse Theater Company's Producing Artistic Director Cyndy A. Marion.

Based on the short story The Blue Bouquet by Mexican writer and Nobel Prize-winner Octavio Paz, Eyes For Consuela depicts the mid-life crisis of Henry, a lost American soul, as he wanders the dreamlike world of a remote Mexican jungle. Estranged from his wife, Henry escapes to Mexico to "find himself" instead encountering Amado, a Mexican bandit who wants to cut out his eyes. According to Amado, blue eyes are the only thing that will make his lover Consuela smile. In a fierce battle of wills, Henry and Amado come eye to eye with their inner demons, the true nature of sacrifice and what separates them from the women they love.

The cast of the production will feature Richard Fiske* (the award winning film Ink and Steel, John Turturro's Mac, Law & Order: Criminal Intent), Roberto Adolpho (The House of Bernarda Alba in Theatre Festival by the Comisionado de Cultura Dominicano), Pietro Gonzalez* (Chilean-born actor who has appeared in Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, The Sopranos, and The Interpreter directed by Sydney Pollack) and Marieta Carrero (Springtime at the Williamstown Theater Festival, Quick, Change at 13th St. Repertory). *Appearing courtesy of Actors' Equity Association/AEA Approved Showcase.

The creative team includes Andis Gjoni (Set Designer), Debra Leigh Siegel (Lighting Designer), Derek Nye Lockwood (Costume Designer), Andy Evan Cohen (Sound Design), Kathryn E. Cashin (Choreography), Vanessa R. Bombardieri (Dramaturg), Michael G. Chin (Fight Choreography), Julie Foh (Dialect Coach), and Joe Gianono (Incidental Music). This program has been made possible in part through the sponsorship of The Field and with funding provided by WHTC Sponsors.

Eyes For Consuela will run at the Gene Frankel Theatre (24 Bond Street) with performances from February 6-21; Tuesdays-Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 1:30pm, with additional performances on Sat. Feb 14th & Sat. Feb 21st at 2pm. Tickets are $18 and can be purchased online at www.SmartTix.com or by phone at 212-868-4444.
