The Way Off Broadway Children's Theatre, the only theatre of its kind in the area - offering lunch matinee shows geared for children and their families, will begin its fifteenth year of bringing children's stories to life with the classic tale of Cinderella. Considered the most popular of The Children's Theatre Collection at Way Off Broadway, Cinderella will run from January 23 - April 25, 2010.
Cinderella is a story that everyone knows. It is the story of a young girl, always following the demands of her stepmother and two step sisters, who has the chance to make her wildest dream come true. With the help of her Fairy Godmother, Cinderella is given the chance to attend the grand ball at the palace where she meets Prince Charming. The ultimate tale of rags to riches, WOB audiences will get to see for themselves how Cinderella manages to go from house cleaner to princess while getting a whole new wardrobe to boot.
The cast of Way Off Broadway's Cinderella includes
Shawn Nakia as Prince Charming,
Bill Kiska and
Jordan Stocksdale as the step sisters,
Ann Davis as the step mother, and Katie Chase Martin and Kara Petersen sharing the role of Cinderella. The story was adapted for the stage and is directed by Susan Thornton with music by Cathie Porter-Borden and lyrics by Leon Borden.

Select added weekday performances are also available for school groups throughout the run. Tickets are $15 per person and may be purchased by contacting the Box office at (301) 662-6600.
Over the years, Way Off Broadway's Children's Theatre has brought countless children's fairytales to the stage, turning each one into a fast-paced, family-friendly, original musical adaptation. From Snow White to the Three Little Pigs, Sleeping Beauty to Jack and the Beanstalk, all of the most memorable characters have appeared on the WOB stage. Making the experience even more unique however, is the fact that a lunch is also served to the audience with the characters from the production doubling as the servers.
