In the 1970s Jacob "Bruno" Bronowski is being interviewed by Michael Parkinson on the BBC about his hit television series, "The Ascent of Man." When he left the stage, he collapsed and died, leaving behind a secret in a locked and alarmed room that will take 70 years to come to light.

Some 50 years after Bruno's death, his grandson Jamie, along with his date Ava, an anthropology academic, delves into Bruno's room for the first time. As the play "unfolds with thriller-like precision" (The Guardian), the two unlock the secrets of 60 million years of human history.

With an astonishing use of technological and visual effects, SECRET LIFE OF HUMANS is a breathtaking story that is inspired by Yuval Harari's international bestseller, Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind, tackling big questions about science, philosophy, and what it means to be human.

The cast features Richard Delaney, Olivia Hirst, Andy Mcleod, Andrew Strafford-Baker, and Stella Blue Taylor.

The design team includes Jen McGinley (set designer); Geoff Hense (lighting designer); Ronnie Dorsey (costume designer); Zakk Hein (projection designer); Yaiza Varona (composer and sound designer); and John Maddox (aerial designer). The Production Stage Manager is Raynelle Wright.

Kate Stanley (co-director) previously collaborated with David Byrne on the award-winning, Down and Out in Paris & London. She is one of the Founders and Artistic Directors of Idle Motion, an innovative visual theater company who toured extensively in the UK and internationally and who were Artistic Associates at New Diorama Theatre and Oxford Playhouse. With Idle Motion, Kate collaboratively developed stories and scripts for seven original theater productions which explored untold stories from our history and she directed three of the company's shows, all of which toured to National Theatre China.

David Byrne (playwright/co-director) is a playwright and theater director. His previous theater productions and work have won the Enfant Terribles Prize, the Writers' Guild and List Magazine Awards for Drama and multiple Off West End awards. As Artistic & Executive Director of New Diorama Theatre, David's program has been awarded three Peter Brook Awards, mostly recently, winning the main Empty Space award in 2016 and The Stage Award for Fringe Theatre of the Year 2017. David was also named Artistic Director of the Year at the Off West End Awards. David is one of The Stage 100, a list of the most powerful and influential people working in British theatre
