Victoria Mack & Ian Kahn Lead TACT's HARD LOVE, Starting Off-Broadway Tonight

TACT/The Actors Company Theatre, the critically-acclaimed and award-winning Off-Broadway company that "reveals, reclaims and reimagines great plays of literary merit" presents the Off Broadway premiere of HARD LOVE, the searing 2003 play by Israeli playwright Motti Lerner.

This first play of the 2015/16 season - the company's 23rd - will be directed by TACT Artistic & Executive Director Scott Alan Evans, who most recently directed Beyond Therapy by Christopher Durang. Performances are set to begin at Theatre Row's Beckett Theatre (410 West 42nd Street - between 9th & 10th Avenues) tonight, September 29th at 7:00pm. Opening night is set for Sunday, October 11th at 6:30pm. Performances will continue through October 31, 2015.

Set in the Ultra-orthodox Mea She'arim district in Jerusalem, HARD LOVE is the fiercely romantic and passionate story of Hannah and Zvi, a divorced couple whose lives are thrown back together when the teenaged children from their second marriages become romantically involved. The enormous divide between the faithful and the non-believing is attempted to be bridged by the power of an undying earthly love. Which will win out? How will they navigate this greatest of all divides?

The cast includes TACT Company Member Victoria Mack (Venus in Fur, Natural Affection) and Guest Artist Ian Kahn (Enron, "TURN: Washington's Spies," "The Good Wife").

The creative team is comprised of John McDermott (sets), Kim Krumm Sorenson (costumes), Aaron Copp (lights), Toby Algya (sound), andSamantha Shoffner (props). Kelly Burns is Production Stage Manager and Yetti Steinman is Assistant Stage Manager.

HARD LOVE was originally produced by the Haifa Municipal Theatre in 2003. Throughout the world, it has received productions by Theatre Or in Durham, North Carolina (2005), by Bimah Theatre in Berlin (2006), by The Jewish Theatre of the South in Atlanta (2008), and by Old Mutual Theatre in Johannesburg, South Africa (2008). TACT is pleased to produce the official Off Broadway debut.

HARD LOVE will play the following performance schedule: Tuesday at 7:00pm, Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday at 8:00 p.m., Saturday at 2:00 & 8:00 p.m., and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 - $63.25 and are available by visiting www.telecharge.com or calling (212) 239-6200.
