GidEon Productions LLC's production of Viral, the provocative dark comedy by Mac Rogers that premiered at the New York International Fringe Festival, will extend as part of the FringeNYC Encore Series September 14 through 27, 2009. Directed by JorDana Williams, Viral won the festival's Outstanding Play Award, the third FringeNYC award for Mac Rogers in five years.

A woman googles "painless suicide" and finds the people who will help her end her life - if she will let them film it. And sell it. Viral is a frank, humane and surprisingly funny look at some very complex issues-assisted suicide, fetish, dignity and privacy in the age of viral videos, where there's nothing so twisted that it doesn't have an audience.

Hailed as "one of the most cohesive productions I have seen come out of FringeNYC" by NYTheatre.com, Viral received a four-star review from Time Out New York and a "Critic's Pick" from Back Stage. The New York Times called it "haunting" while TheaterMania.com raved that "Viral satisfies and its story lingers well after its final moments."

Mac Rogers is the recipient of three FringeNYC overall excellence awards: Outstanding Play, 2009 (Viral); Outstanding Playwrighting, 2007 (Hail Satan) and Outstanding Musical, 2005 (Fleet Week). Mac's play Universal Robots was recently named "Best Off-Off Broadway Play" by the Independent Theater Bloggers Association and earned nominations for Outstanding Production, Script, Actor, and Ensemble from the 2009 New York Innovative Theatre Awards. His play The Second String is published by Playscripts, Inc., and Universal Robots is anthologized in The New York Theatre Experience's Plays and Playwrights 2008.

Viral features a cast which includes Rebecca Comtois, Kent Meister, Jonathan Pereira, Amy Lynn Stewart, and Matthew Trumbull.

Performances of Viral run September 14 through 27, 2009 at the SoHo Playhouse (15 Vandam St., between 6th Ave. and Varick St.; Subway: C/E to Spring; 1 to Houston). Tickets are $18 at http://www.ticketweb.com or by calling 1.866.468.7619. The performance schedule is as follows:

Sunday, September 20th at 1:00 pm
Thursday, September 24th at 7:00 pm
Saturday, September 26th at 2:00 pm
Sunday, September 27th at 6:00 pm

GidEon Productions presents subtly innovative theater in a popular entertainment package, using genre to engage audiences in something fun and familiar-and then taking them somewhere unexpected. Other productions include The Blueprint Project, The Lucretia Jones' Mysteries, The First Annual St. Ignatius Chanukah Pageant, The Second String, The Electric Cat, Dirty Juanita and Universal Robots (co-production with manhattantheatresource).
