Unfolding, an original puppet theatre production, will make its New York debut at The Tank March 29th - April 7th.
Unfolding (produced by Margarita Blush Productions and Hayley Palmaer) is a contemporary fairytale that magically transports the audience through space and time. Unfolding weaves together nostalgic youth and covetable wisdom to explore themes of female wisdom and empowerment, using moving performance and puppetry, shadow imagery, unique design, exquisitely handcrafted puppets, and poignant original live music. Recommended for ages 8+.
The Development of Unfolding has been made possible with support from The Jim Henson Foundation and the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation through US Artists International in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The show been performed at international festivals and venues in the USA, Bulgaria, and Turkey.
Margarita Blush is a Bulgarian-American theatre artist. She holds a BFA in Performance and an MFA in Directing for Puppet Theatre from the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria. Margarita works internationally and has performed, directed, and taught in the USA, Bulgaria, France, Macedonia, Germany, and Turkey.
The ensemble of Unfolding includes Emily Batsford (Orange is the New Black), Monica Lerch (A Dancer's Dream, New York Philharmonic), Kali Therrien (Russian Doll), Lena Gabrielle (Endangered: The Eco-Musical) Dimitar and Petia Dimitrov (Productions in Bulgaria, France, USA, Macedonia), Amir Khosrowpour ("Stop, Prepare, Repair" MoMA), Anya Sokolovskaya (MFA in Costume Design, UConn), Hayley Palmaer (Hot Snakes Media), and Robert Blush (Fulbright-Hays Fellow).
