The Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in Hell's Kitchen has extended dates through August for "Branded Content Will Set You Free," and "The Scumbags of '77," which were written and co-written by infamous UCB luminary Alex Estrada. UCB bigwig John Sartori shares a writing credit for "Scumbags."
"These shows are perhaps the most powerful content in the world," said Estrada at the steps of the landmark comedy theater after Wednesday night's blockbuster performance of "Branded Content." Estrada, 33, thanked the UCB Theater for its continued support of his work, and vowed to destroy all who oppose him, saying, "We must hunt them down in the streets."
"Branded Content Will Set You Free" features appearances and performances by Joanna Hausmann, Gianmarco Soresi, Audrey Stanfield, Sartori, Max Brand, Brittany MacDonald, and Lindsay-Elizabeth Hand. It was directed Ellena Chmielewski (Liminal Salon, Standards and Practices).
"The Scumbags of '77" features both Sartori and Estrada, as well as Ryan Farrell and Lauren Kahn. It was directed by Alexis Pereira, a college administrator.
The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre is an improvisational and sketch comedy theater founded by the Upright Citizens Brigade troupe members, including Amy Poehler, Matt Besser, Ian Roberts, and Matt Walsh. The new Hell's Kitchen theater is located at 555 West 42nd Street in Manhattan. Tickets are available on the UCB website.
