Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director John Doyle and Executive Producer Jeff Griffin, will present the acclaimed Trusty Sidekick Theater Company's world premiere production of THE STOWAWAY (Or How the Mistress Quickly Went From Madcap to Majestic) written and directed by Drew Petersen, based on the plays of William Shakespeare, from November 6 through 19 at CSC (136 East 13th Street).

CSC has made Shakespeare engaging and accessible for thousands of New York City students for well over a decade in classrooms through interactive actor-driven in-school workshops, vibrant study guides, and unforgettable performances. Now in its 50th anniversary season, programming has been expanded to include students of all ages, from kindergartners to high school seniors. The Stowaway is CSC's first show for audiences 5+ and first collaboration with Trusty Sidekick Theater Company, which has garnered much acclaim for their productions for young audiences at Lincoln Center, the Park Avenue Armory, and Governors Island.

Times are changing on the Island of Hockey Puck. A new Duke is ruling with an iron fist, the old Duke disappeared in a puddle of mystery, and a stowaway named Dull is on the run from it all back to her homeland of Illyria. Inspired by the plays and language of Shakespeare, this world premiere by the acclaimed Trusty Sidekick Theater Company uses puppetry, live music, and a sea of imagination.

THE STOWAWAY will perform Friday, November 10 at 7 pm, Saturday, November 11 at 11 am and 4 pm; Sunday, November 12 at 11 am; Friday, November 17 at 7 pm; Saturday, November 18 at 11 am and 4 pm and Sunday, November 19 at 11 am. Tickets are $26. Matinees for schools are also available. For tickets, visit classicstage.org, call (212) 352-3101 or (866) 811-4111, or in person at the box office (136 East 13th Street). There will also be a special Young at Heart 21+ performance of THE STOWAWAY on Monday evening, November 6 at 7 pm with a swashbuckling post-show party in the theater, complete with nautical-themed snacks and drinks, and live music by the band Norwood. Proceeds from this event support CSC Education, which serves more than 4,000 public school students from across the New York City metropolitan area.

CSC is committed to re-imagining classic stories for contemporary audiences. The company has been a home for New York's finest established and emerging artists to grapple with the great works of the world's repertory that speak directly to the issues of today. CSC serves an average of 35,000 audience members annually, including more than 4,000 students through its nationally-recognized education programs. Productions have been cited repeatedly by all the major Off-Broadway theater awards including the Obie, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, Drama League, and the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Body of Work.
