Tony Award Nominee David Garrison Joins Cast for Final Week of Vineyard Theatre's KID VICTORY

Vineyard Theatre Artistic Directors Douglas Aibel and Sarah Stern announce that Tony Award nominee David Garrison (Vineyard's MIDDLETOWN and EIGHT DAYS BACKWARDS) will join the cast of KID VICTORY starting Tuesday, March 14 for the the final week of its run. Garrison replaces Daniel Jenkins who returns to OSLO for the Broadway production.

Celebrated by Theatermania as "the most exciting new musical of the season," The New York premiere of KID VICTORY, book and lyrics by Greg Pierce, music by John Kander with story by John Kander and Greg Pierce, and directed by Liesl Tommy continues performances through Sunday, March 19 with tickets available at www.vineyardtheatre.org or by calling 212-353-0303.

David Garrison was previously seen on the Vineyard stage in MIDDLETOWN and EIGHT DAYS BACKWARDS. He played Steve Rhoades on "Married With Children." His Broadway credits include A DAY IN HOLLYWOOD/A NIGHT IN THE UKRAINE (Tony nomination), WICKED (Carbonell Award), TITANIC, THE VISIT, TORCH SONG TRILOGY, THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE, BELLS ARE RINGING. He has performed at Encores with STRIKE UP THE BAND, LITTLE ME. Off-Broadway credits include I DO! I DO! (Drama Desk nomination), SILENCE! THE MUSICAL, NEW JERUSALEM, GENIUSES, IT'S ONLY A PLAY. Regionally he has been seen in MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG (Helen Hayes Award), DIE FLEDERMAUS (Santa Fe Opera), CANDIDE (Glimmerglass), Randy Newman's FAUST (La Jolla/Goodman), TRAVESTIES (Williamstown). KID VICTORY also features Ann Arvia (MARY POPPINS), Joel Blum (STEEL PIER), Laura Darrell (FROZEN LIVE at Hyperion Theater), Jeffry Denman (WHITE CHRISTMAS), BranDon Flynn ("Thirteen Reasons Why"), Dee Roscioli (WICKED), Tony Award winner Karen Ziemba (CONTACT), and Blake Zolfo (THE LIGHTNING THIEF).

In KID VICTORY, seventeen-year old Luke returns to his small Kansas town after a wrenching one-year absence. As his friendship grows with the town misfit, Emily, his parents realize that in order to truly find their son, they must confront some unnerving truths about his disappearance.

Four-time Tony Award winner John Kander, with the late Fred Ebb, wrote the legendary musicals CHICAGO, CABARET, and THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS. He and Greg Pierce collaborated on the musical THE LANDING presented in 2013 at Vineyard Theatre. Liesl Tommy received a Tony Award nomination for her direction of ECLIPSED on Broadway. KID VICTORY is a co-production with Signature Theatre in Arlington, Virginia.

KID VICTORY features choreography by Christopher Windom (Dallas Theater Center's LES MISERABLES), scenic design by Tony Award winner Clint Ramos (ECLIPSED), costumes by Jacob A. Climer (INFORMED CONSENT), lighting by David Weiner (Vineyard's THE BEAUTIFUL CITY), and sound design by Tony Award nominee Peter Hylenski (AFTER MIDNIGHT). David Loud (THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS) serves as music supervisor, Michael Starobin (FALSETTOS) as orchestrator, and Jesse Kissel (THE VISIT) as music director.

Vineyard Theatre's gala will be held March 13 honoring [title of show] with a toast to producer Kevin McCollum. Vineyard Theatre will conclude its 2016/2017 with two-time Pulitzer Prize-finalist Gina Gionfriddo's CAN YOU FORGIVE HER?, directed by Peter DuBois (SONS OF THE PROPHET, BECKY SHAW) beginning performances May 4.
