Tickets for the NY debut of Colman Domingo's DOT at Vineyard Theatre will go on sale January 6 at Noon. Directed by multiple Tony Award winner Susan Stroman - returning to The Vineyard for the first time since she directed the theater's acclaimed world premiere of THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS - DOT begins previews February 4, 2016 prior to opening February 23. As previously announced, Marjorie Johnson (THE LITTLE FOXES) - who played the title role during its premiere engagement at the Actors Theatre of Louisville's HUMANA FESTIVAL in 2015 - will return to the role at Vineyard Theatre (108 E. 15th St.).
Rounding out the cast of DOT are Colin Hanlon (RENT), Stephen Conrad Moore ("Empire"), Libya V. Pugh (THE BLUEST EYE), Michael Rosen (WEST SIDE STORY), Finnerty Steeves (LOST IN YONKERS) and Sharon Washington (THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS).
DOT is the story of family matriarch Dotty, whose three adult children gather for the holidays with more than exchanging gifts on their minds. As Dotty struggles to navigate life with dementia, her children fight to balance care for their mother and care for themselves.
DOT will feature set design by Allen Moyer (GREY GARDENS), costume design by Kara Harmon (MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING at OSF), lighting design by Ben Stanton (FUN HOME), and sound design by Tom Morse (SYLVIA). Casting is by Henry Russell Bergstein.
DOT is the newest play by actor/author Colman Domingo, whose play A BOY AND HIS SOUL about growing up amidst the funk and soul sounds of Philly in the 70's, was a hit at The Vineyard in 2009. Mr. Domingo is best-known as an actor on Broadway, Off-Broadway and in film with a string of memorable roles in PASSING STRANGE, THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS, SELMA, THE BUTLER and LINCOLN.
