'The Tempest' to Begin Oct. 17 at Theatre Ten Ten

Theater Ten Ten announces its fall mainstage production for the 2008-2009 season, William Shakespeare's "The Tempest." The show will run October 17th through November 16th, 2008.

One of the great romantic comedy plays by William Shakespeare. When at sea, Queen Alonsa of Naples and her entourage encounter a violent storm, or Tempest, they are all washed ashore on a strange island inhabited by the powerful magician Prospero who has deliberately conjured up the storm. Prospero and his daughter Miranda live on the island which is also inhabited by the sprite Ariel, and the ugly, half human Caliban. Lessons of forgiveness are learned, and lives are changed forever, with the help of some of Shakespeare's most poetic text.

Theater Ten Ten's Producing Artistic Director Judith Jarosz will direct. Recently Jarosz has garnered acclaim for her production of Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest, and her non-traditional take on William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. She was awarded a 2004 OOBR Award for Outstanding Production for producing and directing Iolanthe...unplugged.

The creative staff also features, Giles Hogya & David Fuller (Set Design), Sherrice Kelly (Lighting Design), Viviane Galloway (Costume Design), Aaron Diehl (Sound & Video Design), Emily Gasser (Production Stage Manager), Emily Brittney Jensen (Assistant Director), and Anna Hemphill (Assistant Stage Manager).

The cast includes, Matt Bernhard* as Sebastian, Richard Brundage* as Antonio, Sybille Bruun* as Gonzala, Ka-Ling Cheung* as Miranda, Greg Foro* as Ferdinand, David Fuller* as Prospero, Anne Gill as Trinculo, Catherine Handy* as Alonsa, Scott Michael Morales* as Caliban, Kendall Rileigh* as Ariel, and David Weinheimer as Stephano. * Member of Actors Equity Association

One of New York City's most innovative theater companies and the longest continuously operating Equity Company, Off Broadway, the multi-award winning Theater Ten Ten is known for its high standards and entertaining conceptualizations. Part of Theater Ten Ten's mission is nontraditional casting, to allow for more diversity and opportunities for women in the arts. Some roles usually cast as male will be female in this production.

Preview: Friday, October 17th. . Dates: October 17-20, 24-27, 31, November 1-3, 6, 8-10, 13-16.
Times: All Fri., Sat., & Mon. performances are at 8:00PM
All Sundays are 3PM matinees only
There are two Thursday performances on November 6th & 13th, with an early 7:00pm curtain.
Running time: 1 hour, 45 minutes, with one intermission
