Due to demand, The New Group has announced a second extension for Sam Shepard's Buried Child, now playing through April 3. Originally set to play through March 13, an extension through Sunday, March 27 was recently announced for this limited Off-Broadway engagement. Directed by Scott Elliott, this production features Taissa Farmiga, Ed Harris, Amy Madigan, Larry Pine, Rich Sommer, Paul Sparks and Nat Wolff. Official Opening Night takes place tonight: Wednesday, February 17. Previews began February 2 at The Pershing Square Signature Center (The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre, 480 West 42nd Street).

Sam Shepard's Pulitzer Prize-winning play Buried Child returns 20 years after its last major New York production. Dodge and Halie are barely hanging on to their farmland and their sanity while looking after their two wayward grown sons Tilden and Bradley. When their grandson Vince arrives with his girlfriend Shelly, no one seems to recognize him, and confusion abounds. As Vince tries to make sense of the chaos, the rest of the family dances around a deep, dark secret. This wildly poetic and cuttingly funny take on the American family drama gleefully pulls apart the threadbare deluded visions of our families and our homes.

This production features Ed Harris as Dodge, Amy Madigan as Halie, Rich Sommer and Paul Sparks as their sons Bradley and Tilden, respectively, Nat Wolff as their grandson Vince, Taissa Farmiga as Vince's girlfriend Shelly, and Larry Pine as Father Dewis.

Scenic Design is by Derek McLane. Costume Design is by Susan Hilferty. Lighting Design is by Peter Kaczorowski. Sound Design is by Jeremy S. Bloom. Production Supervisor is PRF Productions. Production Stage Manager is Valerie A. Peterson. Casting is by Judy Henderson, CSA.

Buried Child is presented by The New Group in association with Lisa Matlin.

This production reunites Sam Shepard with The New Group, following the company's 2010 production of his play A Lie of the Mind, directed by Ethan Hawke. In Buried Child, Oscar nominees Ed Harris and Amy Madigan return to the company after appearing in the acclaimed 2013 production of Beth Henley's The Jacksonian, directed by Robert Falls. Buried Child had its New York premiere in 1978 and was revived on Broadway in 1996.
