AM Nylon Productions is pleased to announce the production of THE EUTHANASIST at Performance Space 122  from May 29th through June 15th.  The play was written by Liza Lentini, and is being directed by Alan Miller. It stars All My Children's Sabine Singh. THE EUTHANASIST explores the nature of cargiving, devotion and losings one's self in a self-imposed torture of the day to day. The play was originally developed during Lentini's residency with Manhattan Repertory Theater in December 2006. The Euthanasist will be performed Tuesday - Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 6pm.

"I'd heard a story about a real euthanasist, and while at first astonishing, it got me thinking about how common it really is, in everyday situations, when someone wants to help someone who is sick end their life.  This is a story about someone who actually does it.  It's a topic that is consistently in the news, from Dr. Kevorkian to family caretakers, it's a topic that's all around us." - Liza Lentini
Liza Lentini's plays have been produced at the Women's Project, Chicago Dramatist, and The Cherry Lane, all over the US and in London.  Showbusiness Weekly called Drowning in Euphoria, which received an extended run at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre, "poignant and haunting...almost musical."  Her play Roxy Font, an adult's fable about a notorious three-footed prostitute, won Best Ensemble in last year's NYC Fringe Festival, and was named one of the Top Five Fringe shows by New York magazine. She is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, and has placed in The Pinter Review Prize for Drama, Trusts Playwrights Festival, Playwrights First and the Lillian Hellman Prize for Drama.

Liza is the Founder and Creative Director of Elephant Ensemble Theater, a company that brings free performances to children in NYC hospitals, including Mt. Sinai, NY Presbyterian, Jacobi Medical Center, and the Ronald MacDonald House of Long Island.  As a journalist she has tackled subjects as diverse as creationism in the classroom and sex toys.  Her first novel, How to Be a Mistress, came from a series of journalistic interviews with real-life mistresses.

Liza teaches writing privately and in her own workshop in New York City, and has an MFA in Playwriting from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.  She is currently a Playwright in Residence with Manhattan Repertory Theatre and is a regular panelist and lecturer on playwriting and women in the arts.

Due to the socio-political nature of the play and Dr. Kevorkian's recent release, there will be a post-show discussion on Saturday, June 7th hosted by The NY Salon. This exciting partnership with Performance Space 122 offers a unique opportunity for New Yorkers to discuss some of the provocative and stimulating ideas that emerge from the theater's cutting edge performances. The NY Salon firmly maintains that - contrary to much that is fashionable today - audiences are smart and perceptive and want to debate the important issues of our time. After all, ideas have consequences.

Tickets are available at www.ps122.org, or call Theatermania at 212-352-3101. Tickets are $18.00.
