Beginning on Tuesday, September 27th 2010, the producers of a new dark comedy entitled "The Death of Emily Webster" will launch a fundraising campaign on kickstarter.com. The fundraiser ends on October 31st at 5:13pm.

The hope is to raise enough funds to present the show in full as an equity approved showcase sometime in December in order to attract commercial investors to the show and bring it to a larger audience.

The show is described as follows:
"The Death of Emily Webster" gives new meaning to the term dark comedy and one that crosses between Martin McDonaugh (The Pillowman, Lieutenant of Inishmore), and Christopher Durang (Beyond Therapy, Why Torture is Wrong and the people who Love Them).

It tells the story of 3 young adults who are thrown into a game of cat and mouse after their self proclaimed influence in a mutual friend's suicide forces them to accept that selfishness and manipulation ultimately lead down a path of blood, death, and destruction.

On the verge of another meaningless year, Madeline, a "queen bee" discovers that she may be partially responsible for the suicide of a friend, Emily Webster. After clandestine visits from two other friends of Emily, Ivy and Frankie, the three manipulative victims of their own guilt team up to take credit for their friend's "life work" guaranteeing them a free ride for the rest of their lives. But when an unexpected visitor from the trio's past arrives, they must learn that the traps we set for others inevitably ensnare us all before discovering just who is the predator, and who is the prey.

According to it's website, Kickstarter.com is a new way to fund creative ideas and ambitious endeavors. They believe that...

• A good idea, communicated well, can spread fast and wide.
• A large group of people can be a tremendous source of money and encouragement.

Kickstarter is powered by a unique all-or-nothing funding method where projects must be fully-funded or no money changes hands.

The producers, a new organization named The Maxwell Arts Group, encourages everyone to be a part of history and become a backer for a witty and hysterical new play.

Written by Ashley Griffin and directed by up and coming director Marc Eardley (Get GOT, The Affair in 22B) The Death of Emily Webster will hopefully be coming soon to a venue near you.
