Meet Nationally touring Recovery Comedian Dick Satori and discover the show Young People in Recovery founder Justin Luke Riley calls, 'filled with humor, heart, and hope!' Satori, an East Coast based Storyteller, Stand-Up Comedian, Actor, and Clown, has developed his fifth (and by far most personal) solo comedy show, 'Monkey Off Back - Circus Still In Town!', which he initially created largely thru stand-up and comedy variety circus arts.

When people ask Satori how long he's been doing comedy he honestly has to answer, "somewhere between 7 years and 25 years." His professional comedy career began at the ripe old age of 15 when he ran off (sort of) and joined the circus (his parents drove him) as a clown, juggler, roustabout, and the circus's youngest Independent performer.

'Monkey Off Back - Circus Still In Town!', was workshopped as part of Richmond VA's award winning Firehouse Theater Fringe series October 2015 and had it's World Premiere in NYC November 2015 as an official selection of SOLOCOM Festival; NYC's Only All-New Solo Comedy Festival. He continuing on to Frontera Fringe Festival in Austin Texas, Fringe PVD in Providence Rhode Island, and thru 15 states. Along the way he has been reimagining it as more of a storytelling show than a stand up show. It will debut Off Broadway as part of Emerging Artist's Theatre's 25 Anniversary Celebration: Solo Works Series tonight at 9pm at TADA! Theatre on 15 West 28th Street in the City.

Tickets are just $10 and half the proceeds go to benefit Emerging Artists Theatre who were gracious enough to wave their application fee this year and have been directly supporting the development of New Works for 20 years. Show runs 60 minutes. There will be a 'talk back' / Q & A with the performer right after the show if you can and wish to stay for it you can help contribute to the creation process. This is a work in progress/workshop show.

In 2017 'Rich' Satori studied storytelling extensively in NYC with storyteller Adam Wade. He's been integrating more storytelling into the show so it comes more from the heart and speaks to more people. He's participated in Moth Story SLAMs in 5 states, and various comedy storytelling shows including; Story Fest Short Slam, Big Irv's Storytelling Roadshow, How to Build a Fire, Smut Slam, Out By 10!, The Rule 62 Show!, Queendom, Prose of PiE, Curious on Hudson, The Bodega Monthly Storytelling Show, Mostly True Things, Friday Night Stories!, Tell Me More!, Tuesday Tales, StoryFEST: NYC Storytelling Festival, Adam Wade's Storytelling Series, and Tale: NYC's Finest Storytelling at the Red Room.

Satori plans to tour his show Internationally including at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the Largest Arts festival on Earth. The show's goal is to culminate in an Off-Broadway (or Off-Off-Broadway) run.

'Monkey Off Back - Circus Still In Town!' is a bacchanal, heart-provoking, show of a lifetime!

(it's autobiographical)

From a Buddhist perspective we are all addicted to something- just to varying degrees.

This solo work is a hilarious yet cautionary tale of a kid who runs away to join the circus only to find his true self...in handcuffs.

Dick has been a finalist at The Catch A New Rising Star contest in New Jersey and shares two Guinness World Record for Longest Stand-Up Comedy Show with multiple performers where he worked with the likes of ERIC ANDRE', Hannibal Buress, Rory Scovel, Myq Kaplan, & Nate Bargatze in Nashville Tennessee. In developing his show, has performed his unique brand of comedy in over 45 cities across the USA and 4 countries, and 1 Jail. He's a certified group leader of The Yoga of 12-Step Recovery (Y12SR). In addition to theaters and clubs, Satori continues to tour this inspirational comedy show to various 12 Step Recovery Conventions, Conferences, Colleges, Treatment Centers, fundraisers, and other related events. Comedy has played an instrumental part for Dick Satori healing from addiction and he strives to make his unique story universal.
