The Acting Company will present a benefit staged reading of Trouble in Paradise on Monday, September 26 at the Mainstage Theater, 416 West 42nd Street, NYC (between 9th/10th Avenues) at 7pm. The reading reunites members of the original cast of the critically acclaimed 2006 production including Jeremy Shamos (Clybourne Park), Nina Hellman (Obie winner for this role), Carolyn Baeumler as well as Liam Craig, Cynthia Darlow , Steven Rattazzi and Gordon Stanley. Adapted from the 1932 "Depression-era comic masterpiece" of the same name, directed by Ernst Lubitsch, it epitomizes the 'Lubitsch Touch' with its witty innuendo-filled dialogue, orchestratEd Grace, charming style, sardonic humor and pre-Code cynical amorality. Playwright David Simpatico penned the adaptation, which is conceived and directed by Elyse Singer and features original music by Steven Bernstein's Millennial Territory Orchestra. A reception with the cast follows the performance. Tickets at $35 and $60 are available at 212-258-3111 or www.theactingcompany.org.

The Acting Company will begin its 39th national tour in January, 2012 at the Guthrie Theater and will play New York's Baruch Performing Arts Center in April presenting Julius Caesar, a new production directed by Rob Melrose of San Francisco's Cutting Ball Theater, and The Comedy of Errors, directed by Ian Belknap, Associate Artistic Director of The Acting Company. Founded by John Houseman and Margot Harley in 1972, The Acting Company has toured to 49 states and 10 foreign countries earning a TONY for Excellence in Theater, Obies, Audelcos and Los Angeles Critics Circle Awards. Kevin Kline, Rainn Wilson, Patti LuPone, Frances Conroy, Jeffrey Wright Harriet Harris, David Ogden Stiers, Hamish Linklater, Keith David and Jesse L. Martin are but a handful of performers who began their careers on tour with The Acting Company.
