Target Margin Theater (David Herskovits, Artistic Director; John Del Gaudio, Artistic Producer) continues the exploration of Yiddish Theater with the re-imagined classic play, The ( * ) Inn, *empty, vacant, abandoned; usually translated as "Haunted by Peretz Hirschbein. Under the direction of TMT's Artistic Director, David Herskovits, the cast will feature TMT Company Member David Greenspan with Ugo Chukwu, Rachel Claire, Amir Darvish, Susan Hyon, Meg MacCary, Julia Sirna-Frest, J.H. Smith III and Sam T. West.

Performances begin Thursday, March 7, 2013 for a limited engagement through Saturday, March 30, 2013. Opening night is Monday, March 11, 2013 at 7:00PM at Abrons Arts Center (466 Grand Street).

The shtetl turns uncanny in Hirschbein's classic of Yiddish life. You might be expecting The Farm life, the chicken-plucking and the arranged marriage, but not the S&M lust and the body-snatching wedding guests. The ( * ) Inn was an early touchstone for experimental theater in Yiddish, a sensation in Vilna, in London and in a 1917 New York production. This play is a perfect example of why TMT believes Yiddish drama is as innovative and challenging as any in the world.

The creative team includes Carolyn Mraz (Set), Ásta Bennie Hostetter (Costumes), Lenore Doxsee (Lights), Kate Marvin, David Herskovits & Eben Hoffer (Sound), Aaron Ethan Green (Props), Debra Caplan (Dramaturg) and Kat Tharp (Production Manager). The Production Stage Manager is Devorah Jaffe.
TMT has launched a two-year exploration of Yiddish Theater, Beyond the Pale, a look at domestic drama, philosophical drama, verse drama, avant-garde experimentation, political statement plays, and the good old nostalgic drama of the shtetl. Like a comet across the sky, Yiddish culture exploded in creativity in the 19th and 20th centuries, and then went tragically dark. But the literature lives on.

The ( * ) Inn will play the following performance schedule: Thursday - Saturday at 8:00PM, and Sunday at 7:00PM. There is a special added performance for Opening Night on Monday, March 11th at 7:00PM with a benefit performance scheduled on Thursday, March 14th at 7:00PM

Tickets are priced $25 and are available through Abrons Arts Center at www.abronsartscenter.org, or Theatermania by calling (212) 352-3101.

TMT will host special FREE nights including panels, readings and concerts throughout the run of The ( * ) Inn. Please check the Target Margin website at www.targetmargin.org in the coming weeks for more information.
