TSP Artists' Platform presents 'Dreams' Starting 6/4

TSP Artists' Platform presents the world premiere of DREAMS, Norman Beim's prize-winning comedy-drama. Veteran director Sheila Smith directs this touching play that tells the story of legendary Broadway stars, Lily and Archie Lowe, (read Alfred Lunt & Lynn Fontanne) who are coming out of retirement, after being away from the stage for so many years.  How will these aged troupers, who were adored by millions of fans in their day, fare today?

Mr. Beim , who is also a veteran actor, is returning to the stage after fifteen years during which time he was devoted to his writing. As an actor Mr. Beim appeared with Morgan Freeman at the Public Theatre in Black Visions, on Broadway in the original production of Inherit The Wind and on tour with the film star Van Johnson in Tribute He also appeared in numerous TV shows, Saturday Night Live, soap operas et al. Opposite Mr. Beim, in the role of Lily, is Carol Emshoff, also a veteran trouper who has appeared with Mr. Beim in numerous productions.

NORMAN BEIM ( Author ) Beim's plays have been produced nationally and internationally, including last year's New York production of FRITZ & FROYIM that garnered widespread critical acclaim. His comedy–drama, Success , ran for more than a year in The Netherlands and has been optioned for a film. Seven collections of Norman's plays have been published, including Six Award Winning Plays and My Family the Jewish Immigrants .

Sheila Smith (Director) veteran of more than a dozen Broadway shows from ZIEGFELD FOLLIES '56 to SHOW BOAT (revival) '97, received The Theatre World Award (MAME), San Francisco Critic's Award (FOLLIES) and Kent State's Special Award for Performing Arts Achievement. As writer/director, she has produced more than 40 musical tributes including The FROM BROADWAY WITH LOVE series in Toronto and in the states. The American premiere of Noel Coward's AFTER THE BALL starring Paula Lawrence was scripted by Ms. Smith.

JOHN W. COOPER ( Producer & Artistic Director ) is the founder of Turtle Shell Productions, which has produced over 90 plays including Five By Tenn , Blues for Mister Charlie , PUCK'd , Ourselves Alone , The Aspern Papers and The 8 Minute Madness Playwright Festival . He is an alumni of SUNY Purchase and has been nominated for the Irene Ryan National Award and was awarded Best Actor in the European Tournament of Plays.

The TSP Artists' Platform provides playwrights with a safe haven to develop their work in partnership with a team of experienced designers and theater professionals in their home at The Turtle's Shell Theater. Artists are carefully selected and nurtured with an eye towards forging an ongoing creative collaboration.
