The original cast recording of the acclaimed TRIASSIC PARQ The Musical is set to debut this Friday, December 14th on iTunes and Amazon.
Winner of the 2010 Best Musical Award at FringeNYC, TRIASSIC PARQ played a highly successful 2012 summer engagement at the SoHo Playhouse. Written by Marshall Pailet, Bryce Norbitz and Steve Wargo, TRIASSIC PARQ was directed by Mr. Pailet, with choreography by Kyle Mullins and musical direction by Zak Sandler.
The new recording features the extraordinary cast of the recent Off-Broadway production, including Lindsay Nicole Chambers (Hairspray, Lysistrata Jones), Brandon Espinoza (Les Miserables, Captains Courageous), Wade McCollum (Priscilla Queen of the Desert), Claire Neumann (Boston Marriage), Lee Seymour (title role in Hamlet, Shakespeare’s Globe), Shelley Thomas (Zanna, Don’t!), and Alex Wyse (HBO’s Bored to Death).
A fresh new musical with as much heart as raunchy wit, TRIASSIC PARQ is told from the perspective of the dinosaurs. It kicks off with a nod to the blockbuster Spielberg film - a handful of genetically engineered female dinosaurs who have spontaneously turned male - and runs with that premise until the audience's legs get tired. In this epic tale of love, loss and interspecies fornication, these resurrected reptiles have touched theatregoers in ways both moving and inappropriate. The ride is ridiculous to say the least, but beneath the absurdity and chaos is a sincere depiction of identity crisis and loss of faith as two T-Rexes struggle to redefine their friendship after one of them has sprouted a new appendage down below…and the other has not.
Co-author/composer Marshall Pailet is currently developing a new musical for the stage and screen with DreamWorks Theatricals/Animation. Other credits include Super Claudio Bros. (Best Musical DC Fringe '10); Who’s Your Baghdaddy, or How I Started the Iraq War (Woolly Mammoth, Best Musical DC Fringe ’11); On a Glorious Day (Houston Stages); Where It’s At (FringeNYC); and Loch Ness. Co-bookwriter/lyricist Bryce Norbitz is Executive Producer of UglyRhino Productions. She has worked with Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Second City and The Public Theater. Co-bookwriter/lyricist Steve Wargo produced Keith Varney’s I Got Fired: A Revenge Musical at NYMF and he was the Founding Artistic Director of Personal Space Theatrics, where he directed and produced 14 productions.
The West Coast premiere of TRIASSIC PARQ The Musical is set to begin a limited five-week engagement January 25th at the Chance Theater in Orange County. Casting to be announced soon.
