TJMTC Performs ANJOU, A TALE OF HORROR 10/8 Thru 10/12

The Thomas Jefferson Musical Theatre Company Foundation works with kids and youngsters doing musical theatre in an environment where excellence is the norm. It is a nonprofit organization founded to give them a space where to develop values such as team work, self-confidence and self-esteem throughout the theater discipline. In fact for over 20 years, TJMTC has done 29 musicals where more than 1800 kids have been part of this magic and not only the kids; we make it a "family project". Kids and parents work as team in all areas of a production: acting or behind drapes working and learning; sound, lights, moving sets, helping on the wardrobe changes, etc... Showing them to respect, love and support Arts.

The TJMTC Foundation A.C. has been recognized by Mexican's Cultural Government Institutions, like Bellas Artes and the Secretaría de Educación, Cultura y Bienestar Social del Estado de México, also by celebrities like Placido Domingo who, after being witness to our work, rewarded them by becoming the "Honorary President" of our Foundation. Because of TJMTC's work excellence, they have been invited to tour around Mexico and abroad. This year they are invited to be part of the NYMF 2009, Isaac R. Hurwitz, Executive Director & Producer of the New York Musical Theatre Festival, pointed out in his invitation; "Given the history, prominence and quality of you theatre company, we believe your production of Anjou will be a valuable addition to the cultural offerings at this year's festival"

TJMTC accepted the invitation and selected a Mexican play, The Opera Pop: "Anjou, a tale of horror" (Guillermo Mendez and Lupita Sandoval). Inspired in a page of the French history of the XVI century during the religious wars, it is based on the historic personages and novelizes some of the most sordid events of the history to develop a musical where the politics and the passions interweave themselves for lead to an electrifying work. The play invites the public to reflect on the consequences to be abandoned to the excessive ambition and the low passions, through see what happens to the personages of this tale of horror. TJMTC will be performing in Spanish with super titles at St. Clement's Theatre, 423 W. 46th St., Between 9th and 10th Avenues.

TJMTC wants to take advantage of this opportunity to give a sample of the culture, the enthusiasm, the passion and the high artistic quality of Mexico's youth. This project would help to motivate the youths of the world to the search of the excellence along its lives.
