An industry reading of new Comedic Horror Musical THE COMMUTERS (AND OTHER CAUTIONARY TALES OF TRANSIT) is to be presented as part of the Dramatic Guild's "Friday Night Footlights Series" this Friday, February 22nd at 7:30pm.

This 90-minute musical is comprised of a triptych of one-acts about the terrors of New York City public transportation. This reading will be directed by Charlie Johnson (Out of the Box Theatrics) and music directed by Jonathon Lynch. The cast of the reading features Christiana Cole*, David Michael Garry* (Carousel, A Bronx Tale, The Last Ship, Phantom of the Opera), Jose Luaces* (A Christmas Story), Ian Michael Stuart* (Escape to Margaritaville), and Patryce Williams*. The creative team includes music by Caleb Damschroder (Devil's Kin), lyrics by Kit Goldstein Grant (The Nose), and book by Gil Varod (Oedipus for Kids).

The show was originally developed at Lincoln Center's Across a Crowded Room series in master classes with Lynn Ahrens, Jason Robert Brown, and Thomas Meehan. The first act, "The Commuters, or A Cautionary Tale About The Port Authority", premiered at the Riant Theatre Strawberry One-Act Festival, where it received 5 award nominations (including Best Musical) and was selected as the Audience Favorite.
