After nine years of partying like it's 1989, today, November 2, Off-Broadway's smash-hit theatrical event THE AWESOME 80s PROM will conclude its celebrated NYC run at The Wall (251 West 30th Street), due to a programming change at the venue.

Throughout its record-breaking, nine-year run as Off-Broadway's second longest-running interactive show, more than 160,000 wine coolers were served, more than 300,000 packs of Pop Rocks were consumed and over 700,000 attempts at "The Worm" were tried by folks attending THE AWESOME 80s PROM.

But now, they've lost their lease as The Wall focuses more on live music, rather than Off-Broadway entertainment.

"THE AWESOME 80s PROM was my first show in New York, and I couldn't be more proud of our awesome run," said producer Ken Davenport. "I'm so thankful to the hundreds of performers and the thousands of audience members who moonwalked with us over the years. To quote one of my favorite 80s tunes, 'I've had the time of my life.' We're still hopeful that we'll find another NYC venue and will be able to reopen soon. But in the meantime, I'm going to start working on The Phat 90s Prom."

THE AWESOME 80s PROM is the acclaimed interactive experience in the style of Tony 'n' Tina's Wedding and The Donkey Show set at the Wanaget High's Senior Prom...in 1989! All your favorite characters from your favorite '80s movies are at The Prom, from the Captain of the Football Team to the Asian Exchange Student, from the Geek to the hottie Head Cheerleader, and they're all competing for Prom King and Queen.

And just like on "American Idol," the audience decides who wins, all while moonwalkin' to great retro hits like "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" and "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go!" Come "Back in Time," to quote a Huey Lewis tune, and join the break-dance circle or just sit back and watch the '80s drama unfold. If you're lucky, you'll even get to dance with The Captain of the Football Team. And this time, you don't have a curfew!

The final Off-Broadway cast of THE AWESOME 80s PROM includes Andy Arena, Andrea Biggs, Farah Brook, Chris Cafero, Brad Giovanine, Paige Grimard, Anderson Lim, Brandon Marotta, Tom McVey, Joanne Nosuchinsky, Howard Pinhasik, Jessica West Regan, Kate Riley, Lauren Schafler, Zachary Sciranka andMarshall Stratton.

THE AWESOME 80S PROM was conceived and directed by Ken Davenport and written by Davenport and "The Class of 1989", a group of performers including Sheila Berezan, Alex Back, Adam Bloom, Anne Bobby, Courtney Balan, Nicole Cicchella, Mary Faber, Stephen Guarino, Jeff Hiller, Emily McNamara, Troy Metcalf, Jenna Pace, Amanda Ryan Paige, Brian Peterson, Jessica West Regan, Kathy Searle, Mark Shunock, Josh Walden, Noah Weisberg, BranDon Williams, Simon Wong andFletcher Young.

In addition to its record-breaking run as the second longest-running interactive Off-Broadway show, THE AWESOME 80s PROM has been produced in Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, Baltimore and, as licensed by Samuel French Inc., has been performed in countless high schools around the country.
