Culture Project (Allan Buchman, Artistic Director) has announced that it will host a special talk-back conversation in conjunction with the Irish Arts Center/New York on Thursday, November 20, 2008, following the 8:00 p.m. performance of The Atheist. The discussion, titled “An Irish American and his American Plays,” will welcome The Atheist’s playwright Ronan Noone and star Campbell Scott, in a conversation about Noone’s work, moderated by Aidan Connolly, Executive Director of the Irish Arts Center.
The Irish Arts Center offers a platform for promising Irish and Irish American artists to hone their craft, reach a wider audience and expand their profile. In 2005, they presented the Off-Broadway debut of Boston-based playwright Noone (originally from Clifden, Co. Connemara) with the acclaimed production of his groundbreaking play The Blowin of Baile Gall.
In The Atheist, Scott plays a crooked reporter who will do anything to get his next front-page story. When Augustine turns a prominent local politician’s tawdry predilections into front page news, the scandal threatens to undo the one person Augustine thought was immune - himself. The Atheist is a searing and hilarious play about catching the perfect front-page headline, whatever the cost. The design team for The Atheist includes Ben Stanton (Lighting Design), Cristina Todesco (Set Design), Alex Neumann (Sound Design), Jessica Curtright (Costume Design) and Emily Ellen Roberts (Stage Manager).Photo of Campbell Scott by Pablo Pimienta
