The Workshop Theater (312 W 36th Street) will present a return engagement of The Astonishing Times of Timothy Cratchit, by popular demand, Thursday, December 1 - Sunday, December, 18, 2016. Featuring a book by Allan Knee (Little Women) with music and lyrics by Andre Catrini, The Astonishing Times of Timothy Cratchit is a musical coming of age story that begins ten years after Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Casting will be announced shortly. Tickets are now on sale.

"Allan Knee's exceptional story and Andre Catrini's sweeping, fanciful score captured the hearts and imagination of our audiences last season," said The Workshop Theater Artistic Director, Thomas Coté. "We are delighted to have a second opportunity to further develop a remarkable new musical with such heart and commercial potential."

The Astonishing Times of Timothy Cratchit tells the tale of a young man who sets out to find his place in an expanding and volatile world. Inspired by the characters of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, the story follows the plight of the young hero from the home of his benefactor, Ebenezer Scrooge, to the theatrical madness of the great comic, Giuseppe Grimaldi.

Directed by Artistic Director Thomas Coté with choreography by Mark Stuart (Standard Time), The Astonishing Times of Timothy Cratchit features set designs by Craig Napoliello, and costumes by Sharon Sobel.

The Astonishing Times of Timothy Cratchit made its celebrated world premiere at The Workshop Theater last season after three years of development by the organization. Knee drew inspiration from Charles Dickens' enduring 1843 classic holiday tale, A Christmas Carol as well as the Memoirs of Joseph Grimaldi, the author's 1838 rewrite of the autobiography of England's greatest clown and pantomime.

Performances of The Astonishing Times of Timothy Cratchit will take place Thursday at 7 pm, Friday and Saturday at 8 pm, and Sunday at 3 pm the first week and then Tuesdays - Thursdays at 7 pm, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 3 pm for the following weeks. Tickets are $25 general admission and $18 for students and seniors and are available online at www.workshoptheater.org or by calling 866.811.4111.
