Saxophone and clarinet virtuosos (and brothers themselves) Pete and Will Anderson tell the riveting story of the two bandleaders, Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, who rose to the top before sibling rivalry caused the act to split up. A blazing jazz sextet and footage from the 1947 film The Fabulous Dorseys turn up the heat on this biographical tale.
The featured cast of musicians include Pete Anderson, Will Anderson, Jon-Erik Kellso, Ehud Asherie, Kevin Dorn, and Clovis Nicolas.
Jazz saxophonist/clarinetist Pete Anderson (writer/director/performer) began playing music at age 9. A graduate of Juilliard, he has performed with such prominent bands as the Jimmy Heath Big Band, Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, and Village Vanguard Orchestra. He has also played with the NYC Ballet, on HBO Television, and on Grammy-winning recordings. Co-led with his brother, the Anderson Twins Sextet has performed at numerous music festivals, universities, and at a 2010 Off-Broadway show at 59E59 Theaters, celebrating Artie Shaw. Together, they will soon be releasing an album of original music featuring legendary pianist Kenny Barron.
Called a "virtuoso on clarinet and saxophone" by the New York Times, Will Anderson (writer/director/performer) recently served on the faculty of Juilliard's Music Advancement Program. He's performed in Hollywood movies and on Broadway, been interviewed on radio stations worldwide, and led performances at NYC's Blue Note, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and The Jacob Burns Center with the "Anderson Twins Jazz" ensemble. Mr. Anderson has recently appeared with the Lincoln Center and Village Vanguard Jazz Orchestras, the Jimmy Heath Big Band, and Vince Giordano's Nighthawks. With the Nighthawks, Will is on the 2012 Grammy Award-winning HBO's "Boardwalk Empire Volume 1" Soundtrack.
