The producers of "The Affair in 22B" have decided to close the show ahead of its extended run in order to prepare for an expected December commercial, open-ended run to be co-produced by 3S Theatre Collective and The Producer's Club, which would be the first collaborative effort between the club and an outside production company in quite some time.

"By working together with The Producer's Club, this revolutionary partnership would help to promote quality, affordable Off-Broadway Theatre while raising the bar on shows at The Producers Club," said Marc Eardley, 3S Theatre Collective's founder and producer. "Word of mouth was so extremely positive and wonderfully strong that we felt the show would be served better by a longer run than 3STC alone could give it."

"The Affair in 22B" starred Broadway actor John Halbach, known best for his performance in Roundabout Theatre Company's "Tartuffe," and co-star, Renee Rakel, who was introduced to the New York theatre scene in the play's role of Abbey. Though no cast attachments have been made thus far for December's intended run, the original cast is expected to return. A guest lead actress is being sought to celebrate the reintroduction of the play to the Off-Broadway stage.

Written by Jay Christopher (aka Jack Kelly) in 1984, the play revolves around the quirky relationship of the two main characters, Abbey and Paul, who share their lives in a run-down New York apartment, and who are looking to build a successful and meaningful relationship, though Paul's eagerness towards conflict and negativity plays an integral role in the downfall of the couple's companionship.

"The Affair in 22B" is currently being performed at The Sonnet Theatre, located at The Producer's Club, 358 West 44th Street, New York, NY. "The Affair in 22B" will now run until November 2nd, with performances on Mondays at 8 pm, Tuesdays at 8 pm, Thursdays at 8 pm, Fridays at 8 pm, Saturdays at 2 pm and 8 pm, and Sundays at 3 pm. Tickets cost $27.50. For more information please visit www.3stc.com
